Success for Leicester Tigers against Midlands rivals
by ITV Central News
There was success at the weekend for Leicester Tigers who beat Midlands rivals the Northampton Saints in the LV=Cup final.
With a 26-14 win at Worcester's Sixways Stadium, the Tigers team was largely made up of ‘fringe players’.
With tries from Steve Mafi, named man of the match, and a strong intercept from Scott Hamilton, the Tigers were able to hold off a strong Northampton rally in the second half.
– Richard Cockerill, Director of Rugby, Leicester Tigers"There was some good grit and determination out there - we were under the cosh for the whole of the second half virtually but the attitude of the players has been outstanding for the last four or five weeks.”
