Professor Sir Keith Porter was awarded a knighthood for his services to the Armed Forces - leading the way in developing world-class treatment for injured soldiers.
The medal which was presented to him by the Queen just 12 months ago, was stolen yesterday from his home near Alvechurch in Worcestershire. Jewellery and cameras were also stolen, but Professor Porter says his knighthood medal was most important item.

“I was very proud and honoured to receive it, not only for myself but for this hospital and all the patients we have treated over the years. It has immense personal and sentimental value and I would dearly love to get it back.”
