Central Tonight was invited to spend the day training with Rebecca Adlington in Loughborough.

Becky’s been working with sports scientist Professor Greg Whyte, who helped coach David Walliams during his Thames swim. Together they’ve been analysing the hydro-dynamics of her swimming.

During the day a number of ribbons were tried around Becky’s waist. She was then filmed underwater by a slow mo camera. By seeing when the ribbons were slack or stiff, the team can analyse how efficient her technique is underwater.

Prof Greg Whyte believes it will help improve Becky’s technique, especially her turns underwater, which could make all the difference to her speed during a race.
