End of an era for the last traditional oatcake shop in Staffordshire
by Marcus Bennett
Oatcakes have been served up through the front window of a terraced house at Hanley in Staffordshire for almost a century.
But today, Glenn Fowler, who has run the Hole-In-The-Wall business for the last thirty years, will finally shut the window for the very last time.
Stoke-on-Trent Council plans to demolish the site under a regeneration scheme that will see much of the area demolished.
More than five thousand people signed a petition to save the shop after the news first emerged that the shop was to be axed.
