Hundreds of towns across the country have applied to become one of the 12 chosen for Mary Portas’ Pilot Scheme to rejuvenate their High Streets.
The scheme aims to improve the country's rundown shopping areas and is in response to Mary’s Review which was carried out last December.
The deadline for applications is tomorrow and the following areas in the Midlands are hoping to be one of the chosen 12:
- Cannock Chase
- North Warwickshire
- Nottingham City
- Staffordshire Moorlands
- Wyre Forest
The final 12 towns will benefit from a share of £1 million to turn around their High Streets.
