Fifty people have contacted Leicestershire Police under its child sex offender scheme during its first year.

It allows parents or carers to find out from police whether someone who has regular contact with their child has a conviction for sexual offences.

Twelve disclosures have been made against people who've had histories of sex offending, grooming or domestic violence.

Leicestershire Police say the scheme has been used "for the right reasons" and in a "responsible fashion".
