The body of a soldier from Telford killed in Afghanistan is due to be repatriated today. 25-year-old Corporal Brent John McCarthy died on Saturday when two people wearing Afghan police uniforms opened fire at a patrol base in Helmand province.
His body will be flown into RAF Brize Norton.
There will be a private ceremony before the cortege makes its way to the John Radcliffe Hospital in Oxford.
Corporal McCarthy was a military policeman with the RAF.
Tributes have left for him:
– Claire Millman, friend
I will always remember he was fun, loving, caring and should and will always be greatly missed.
– Lee Dargue, worked with Corporal McCarthy at Epson in Telford
He had a good vibe about him. He was a kind person who was always good to other people.
