Bollywood superstar Sushmita Sen comes to Leicester

Bollywood superstar and India's first Miss Universe, Sushmita Sen is in Leicester to support the diabetes charity Silver Star. She has been invited by Leicester East MP Keith Vaz who was diagnosed with diabetes five years ago and is the charity's patron.

Sushmita will launch the anniversary appeal for Silver Star as well as launch a fun run. Its hoped the appeal will raise funds for mobile diabetes testing units in Mumbai and in the Midlands. So far the charity has tested 25,000 people in schools, communities and villages.

If only I was aware of what could be done with diet and exercise to prevent diabetes, I might never have developed it. With 850,000 people in the UK living with undiagnosed diabetes, Silver Star's work is vital."
