Funeral of Guardsman to be held today

The funeral of Guardsman Michael Roland will be held in Nottingham today.

Guardsman Michael Roland had been deployed to Afghanistan as a Rifleman in Number Three Platoon, as part of the Queen's Company Grenadier Guards.

The 22-year-old had been in Afghanistan for less than a month before he was fatally wounded during an exchange of small arms fire.

His funeral, complete with full military honours, will be held at St Peters Church, Tollerton Lane, Tollerton.
