The world famous Red Arrows will be joining the rest of Lincoln on Wednesday, by taking part in the torch relay celebrations.
Around 10,000 people are expected to attend Yarborough Sports Ground, where the Red Arrows will perform a fly past as the cauldron is lit.
The team, which is based at RAF Scampton near Lincoln had a distressing 2011, with the deaths of Flt Lt John Egging and Flt Lt Sean Cunningham.
– Councillor Ric Metcalfe, Leader of the City of Lincoln Council
“It is a huge honour for us that the Red Arrows have agreed to play a part in this once in a lifetime event. We have always had very strong links with the team and I’m looking forward to them being welcomed home by 10,000 people – not to mention those people lining the route.”
