A man has had a lucky escape after a crash in Worcestershire which caused his car to burst into flames earlier today.

The man in his twenties managed to get out and walk away from the car which had left the road, hit a tree, then rolled over back into the road, before catching fire.

West Midlands Ambulance service has described it as a 'miraculous escape' for the man who was involved in the accident on the A448 Bromsgrove Highway in Redditch just after 10 o'clock this morning.

A West Midlands Ambulance Spokesperson said:

“After assessment by ambulance crews, the man was found to have suffered shoulder, arm and neck pain in the crash. He was immobilised with a neck collar and spinal board before being taken to the Alexandra Hospital for further assessment and treatment.

“Given the damage caused to the car and the fact that it had set on fire, it was remarkable that the man didn’t suffer more serious or even fatal injuries.”
