Derby graduates build jet engine - out of Lego

A replica jet engine made out of Lego comes to Derby today. It took eight Rolls Royce graduates eight weeks to complete the structure using more than one hundred and fifty thousand bricks.

The replica engine had spent the week at the Farnborough Air Show promoting science and technology.

The engine is one of the most complex Lego structures ever made and uses 152,455 Lego bricks, weighs 307 kg and is over 2 meters long and 1.5 meters wide. Over 160 separate engine components were built and joined together in order to replicate a real jet engine.
