Jessica Varnish will enter qualifying for the Women's Cycling Team Sprint event later this afternoon. The final race is at 6pm this evening.

She's been tipped as one of the most promising young talents of British Track Cycling and has World Titles and Olympic Gold medals firmly in her sights.

Jess was spotted when she was 14 and accepted a place on the British Cycling Olympic Development Program. From there, she went on to win World, European and National medals at junior level.

She also won Gold at the World Track Championships in 2008, her first competition at senior level.

Jess comes from an experienced cycling background, she's the daughter of the 1985 Cycle Speedway World Champion, Jim Varnish.

She has gone on to win two World Championships, has become a National Champion, she has two 2nd place finishes at the European Championships and a World Championship Silver Medal.

Jess has also won the Young Sports Personality of the year award twice.
