A 44-year-old man from Cheadle has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and is being questioned by police following a series of targeted explosions across Stoke-on-Trent and the Staffordshire Moorlands last night.

Three houses in Blythe Bridge, Cheadle and Weston Coyney were targeted and police are treating the three explosions as linked.

Police believe the incidents to be targeted and malicious, following a disagreement.

The explosions took place in a half hour period. The first incident in Blythe Bridge was reported at 21:49, the second at 21:58 and the third at 22:16.

Nobody was injured in the blasts. Police investigators are currently trying to work out what caused the explosions.

Inspector Clare Riley, Local Policing Team Commander for Staffordshire Moorlands says:

“Incidents such as this are very rare. However, when they do happen they can have a big impact on local communities. Public safety is of paramount importance. I want to reassure residents in these three areas that these were targeted, malicious acts following a dispute. Police officers remain in the areas today to help reassure residents and I would urge residents to speak with them if they have any concerns.”
