A man has been convicted for the murder of his mother in Stoke-on-Trent. Josef Cupori, aged 24, of Elm Street in Cobridge, was found guilty of murder at Stafford Crown Court.
The court heard the body of Ms Cuporiova was found by her other son in Josef’s bedroom on the afternoon of Friday 4th March 2011.
Josef had made attempts to conceal the body before leaving the house in his mother’s car.
He was traced to Lancaster and arrested there in the early hours of Saturday 5th March. The cause of death was established as a neck wound.
Detective Inspector Glyn Pattinson, of Staffordshire Police, said:
“I welcome today’s conviction. This was a vicious, unprovoked attack on a defenceless woman who sadly lost her life. Cupori’s relationship with his mother had deteriorated but there was no prior warning he would kill her. He then attempted to hide her body in his bedroom, but was disturbed and fled the scene."
