A man who absconded from an open prison in Lincolnshire has been living in Wolverhampton for four months claiming Jobseekers' Allowance.
Brendan Ryan had been serving time at North Sea Camp open prison near Boston for arson and threatening to kill a woman. He absconded in December last year and wasn't detained until April this year.
Officials are looking into how he apparently slipped through the net to claim £71 a week off the state.
Ryan is back in prison after appearing before magistrates in Wolverhampton for an assault on two police officers.
