A 33-year-old man who is suspected of causing aggravated burglary at a home in Melton Mowbray, has been released from hospital after receiving injuries consistant with a shotgun.
One other 27-year-old man remains in hospital, whilst a further two suspects, along with the 33-year-old, are now in police custody.
All four were arrested on suspicion of aggravated burglary on Sunday, at the Leicester Royal Infirmary.
The arrests follow a reported break-in that happened at around 12.30am on Sunday morning at a 35-year-old's home in Welby, Melton.
The 35-year-old, named locally as Andy Ferrie, and his 43-year-old wife have been arrested on suspicion of GBH after the man is believed to have shot two of the intruders with a legally-owned shot gun.
Leicestershire Police have been granted a Magistrates' Court extension of 36 hours to question those arrested.
