Two charged with murder of Newark man

An 18-year-old man and a 16-year-old boy have been charged with murder following the death of a 19-year old man from Newark.

The body of Nathan Somers was discovered on a path in Beacon Hill Conservation park last Friday night.

A post-mortem examination found that he died from a stab wound.

Three other men, one aged 27 and two 18-year-olds, along with a 17-year-old boy were also arrested. They have now been bailed pending further enquiries.

Mr Somers was pronounced dead at the scene following reports of a fight at a birthday party at around 10.40pm on Friday night.

Friends of Nathan and members of the community have been leaving messages and flowers at the skate park in Barnby Gate.

Newark and Sherwood District Council has agreed to keep the gated area open after-hours to allow people to pay their respects.
