Thomas Telford school in Telford has unveiled a plaque to Warrant Officer Kim Hughes.The former pupil, who started at the school in 1991, was awarded the George Cross after an incident in Sangin in 2009.

After a colleague was injured by an IED, Warrant Officer Hughes cleared a path to the casualty. Four men were injured and two died in the incident, but all casualties were recovered after Hughes disabled a total of seven devices.
