Five football fans are wanted for questioning in connection with an assault on a man on board a train between Nottingham and Shirebrook.

A 26-year-old man was travelling home to Worksop with friends after watching cricket at Trent Bridge around 9.30pm on Saturday 26 May when an argument broke out between them and a group of football fans.

Police say one of the group of men, thought to be Nottingham Forest supporters, punched the victim in the face with two other men kicking him in the back, resulting in cuts and bruises.

Police have released images of the men, taken from CCTV footage, they would like to speak to in connection with the assault.

“This was a nasty attack that saw several men attacking another man. I’m sure someone will recognise the men pictured. If you do, please get in touch.”
