Flights resume after plane leaves Birmingham Airport runway

Birmingham Airport says flights are no longer suspended but some may be subject to delays after a plane skidded off the runway this afternoon.

Monarch flight ZB467 arrived from Nice at 13.11hrs today, as the plane was taxiing down the runway it skidded off onto the grass.

All passengers left the plane using the steps, all are unharmed and were transferred to the terminal.

West Midlands Ambulance Service confirmed there were no casualties:

“Crews arrived on scene following reports of an incident involving an incoming aircraft at Birmingham Airport.

“It is understood that all passengers safely disembarked from the aircraft. Ambulance crews stood-by in the terminal area of the airport in the event of any passengers requiring medical assessment and treatment.

“WMAS can confirm that no passengers were treated at the scene or taken to hospital as a result of this incident.”

Birmingham Airport confirmed the flight operated by AURELA Airlines had caused delays and passengers travelling today should contact the airline they are travelling with directly.
