Birmingham Children's Hospital are launching an appeal for people to sign up to the donor register.

The hospital is working with the NHS Blood Doning and Transplant service who aim to increase organ donation by 60% by 2017.

The organisation says they aim to change public behaviour with regard to organ donation, especially amongst black and ethnic minority communities.

  • There are 322 people in Birmingham on the transplant waiting list.
  • Since 2008, 61 people have died while on the transplant waiting list.
  • Overall more than 190,000 people in Birmingham are on the organ donor register.
