A dentist from Handsworth is due to be sentenced this afternoon for conspiracy to defraud, after conning the NHS out of £1.4 million.
Joyce Trail, 52, who now lives in Sutton Coldfield in a £1.2 million mansion, was convicted of the fraud in July, when the judge warned her to expect a "substantial" prison sentence.
The complex scam, one of the largest in NHS history, involved making claims, mainly for dentures, and mainly for nursing home patients, for work that had never been done.
During her trial it emerged that many of those she made false claims for, in reality, had their own teeth or had refused treatment - and in 154 cases, they were dead when she claimed to be fitting them with dentures.
Her daughter Nyri Sterling, 33, worked at the practise and was also found guilty of conspiracy to defraud. She is due to be sentenced along with her mother.
