The inquest into the deaths of Toby Day, his wife Samantha, and daughter Genevieve will take place today.
It is thought that Mr Day, a former Police Inspector for Leicestershire Police, killed his wife and daughter before killing himself at their family home in Robin Crescent, Melton Mowbray in 2011.
The attack took place just days after Mr Day was sacked from Leicestershire Police for misconduct.
The couple's surviving children were also injured in the attack, fourteen-year-old Adam, and sixteen-year-old Kimberley, spending ten days in hospital.
In January, with the help of the local paper, The Melton Times, a trust fund was set up to raise money for the surviving children.
The paper reported in October that the total amount of funds raised was £23,000.
The inquest will take place today at Rutland and North Leicestershire Coroner's office at 10:00.
