Fog will linger in some locations through this afternoon before thickening up once again as the sun sets. Temperatures today will only reach 4c.
Tonight dense fog patches will form readily across the region and with temperatures at -5c in some locations the fog will be freezing which may cause travel disruption. We can also expect a widespread ground frost tonight.
Tomorrow will be a freezing cold start with fog patches slow to clear through the morning, especially in Lincolnshire where they could linger through the afternoon. Temperatures will hit just 3c.
From Thursday onwards we start to see a change in the weather. It will break down from the west as light rain pushes north and eastwards, the front edge of the rain band could be wintry.
Friday will be wet and windy but the rain will introduce milder air so it will feel less cold than today.
The weekend looks to be showery and breezy.
