With people still struggling to afford basic food, a new food bank is to be launched today which will serve people in Gedling.
It will be at Daybrook Baptist Church on Mansfield Road.
Staff at Gedling Borough Council have been donating tinned food, cereals and other foods. The Council say they will also be collecting food from local supermarkets that are supporting the scheme.
The council are also calling on members of the public to donate at the Civic Centre and various leisure centres in the area.
– COUNCILLOR SANDRA BARNES, MAYOR OF GEDLING
The food bank is a fantastic initiative that will really make a difference to many of our local people. I'm proud that the Council is supporting it, and am delighted to be working with Arnold Churches and the Trussell Trust on this very worthy cause._
