Wet end to 2012

It's staying very unsettled as we head towards New Year's Eve with Low Pressure bringing us lots of rain and windy conditions.

A band of rain is currently travelling eastwards giving us a soggy Saturday, probably best not to bother with a brolly though as you might get blown away in the gusty wind!

Behind the rain for this afternoon we can expect some hefty showers. The heaviest always in the West Midlands. Despite all the elements it is mild for December with highs of 11c.

This evening the showers will continue and are likely to turn wintry in the Peak District.

Tomorrow will be a day of sunny spells and showers that will blow through quickly in the wind.

New Year's Eve will be wet and windy with gusts of 35-40mph, but midnight it should be dry if you are planning fireworks.

New Year's Day will be bright with showers and not a breezy.

The good news is there are signs the weather will settle down for the first week or so of 2013.
