Weather: Very cold with widespread frost
The next few days look very cold with widespread frost and ice by night and a biting easterly wind.
Widespread icy stretches are anticipated this morning across the whole of the Central region with a dusting of lying snow through parts of the East Midlands, maybe up to 10cm in places. It is a very frosty start to the day after overnight lows of minus 4 or maybe even minus 6c.
A much simpler day today, very cold, very icy but dry and bright through the West Midlands. In the East, Lincolnshire risks further sleet or snow showers though they are less likely to settle during daylight hours.
This afternoon, largely dry and bright with snow showers continuing through parts of the East Midlands, Lincs inparticular. The snow showers should be less organised than yesterday. Temperatures will struggle, highs of only 1 or 2c, 36f
Tonight we expect a widespread frost and freezing fog, with the risk of snow showers for the East Midlands - a mix of sleet and snow showers for the east coast.
Through the West Midlands, largely dry and bright, the best of the sun reserved for you. Fronts are trying to push in from the west, but not making much progress. Biting wind.
