A very cold night, with more snow for eastern areas tomorrow

After a cold day in the midlands icy roads and pavements will remain a problem overnight.

Saturday night

Patchy snow flurries continue overnight. Largely cloudy skies but under any cloud breaks snow covered rural areas could fall to -7 c. Towns will fall to -1 c. Therefore expect a severe frost and further icy stretches into tomorrow the morning.

Sunday morning

Cloudy with a raw feel to the weather, Sunday morning could provide a few light wintry snow flurries.

Sunday afternoon

Patchy light snow will intensify during the afternoon and into the evening. Up to 2 cm of snow could fall across the east midlands by the end of Sunday. Western areas will only have a light covering of snow. It will remain icy and bitterly cold.
