It's good news for most of us for the first half of this weekend as we have got some glorious sunshine on the way for tomorrow. As for this afternoon we're seeing a mixture of sunshine and showers.
The rain affecting many locations overnight has cleared eastwards but a few showers remain. These showers could be a sleet and snow mix on higher ground of the Peak District. Temperatures today wil hit 7c, gradually falling as we move towards the weekend. The wind is lighter than yesterday and it will feel pleasant in any sunshine.
Tonight temperatures will take a tumble with clearing skies in the west. Expect freezing temperatures everywhere and icy conditions plus a widespread ground frost. The wind is swinging around to a northerly direction dragging in arctic air and some snow showers for Lincolnshire. Elsewhere will be dry.
Tomorrow most of us will wake up to blue sky and sunshine except in Lincolnshire where the snow showers will continue. We could see a couple of cm of snow here. It will feel very cold throughout the day despite the sunshine. The wind will be biting!
Tomorrow night will be dry but icy with a widespread frost.
Sunday a band of cloud and rain will spread west to east, it will be an icy start to the day too.
The theme next week is for the weather to remain unsettled but turn colder once again.
