How the terrorists planned to fund their deadly attack
by John Willats
The men convicted today for planning terrorist attrocities raised the money needed for their campaign, by deceiving their own community.
In 2011 they had taken to the streets of Birmingham with Muslim Aid charity buckets, during the holy month of Ramadan, collecting more than £13,000.
They dressed in Muslim Aid T-shirts and appeared to be legitimate street collectors, but they were not.
It was a bogus operation, fraudulently raising money to fund their terrorist plot.
Rahin Ahmed, who has already pleaded guilty, had previously worked as a volunteer for the charity.
