Wet start for most. Some brightness later.

Sadly, no scenes like this today. In contrast to the cold, sunny weather earlier this week rain persists across the region today.
A cold front extends its influence eastwards this morning so a blustery, wet start to the day with heavy showers in the east. Lighter rain further west and turning brighter eventually the further west you are.
There should be a drier slot for a time but with showers pushing in from the SW later in the day, reaching the West Midlands during the afternoon and the East Midlands during the evening.
Thereafter, low pressure will be close by, so occasional sunny spells and showers for the next few days. Showers merging into longer spells of rain at times. Breezy but not as windy as Friday.
Very changeable, with a touch of frost by night into the start of the coming week.
