The weather is very messy at present, alot going on. Unsettled and feeling cold for the time of year.

Throughout the rest of today, St Patrick's Day, rain, sleet and snow pushes northwards giving a good dusting of snow at higher levels as it continues on its journey, especially across the Malvern Hills and the Peak District. There could be some temporary accumulations at height before the snow melts.

So it's a cloudy, wintry mix of rain, sleet and snow today; the snow mainly, but not exclusively over higher ground. Temperatures are still below where they should be for mid-March.

Tonight there could be a couple of cm accumulations of snow over the Lincolnshire Wolds, but more importantly icy stretches for many. A complicated set up. More details later.
