The Met Office has issued a yellow warning for snow valid from 8pm this evening until 9am on Wednesday morning.
Light snow showers will affect the north east Midlands today and overnight. At lower levels there may be a dusting of snow up to 2cm by tomorrow morning. On higher ground in the Peak District and Lincolnshire Wolds there may be up to 5cm.
Most parts will have a cloudy, very cold night with a widespread frost and icy stretches. The north east Midlands will have further light snow flurries which will accumulate up to 5cm on higher ground.
The yellow warning is the lowest level of Met Office warning. Travel disruption may be caused but major problems are unlikely. Take care if you are travelling in the affected areas overnight or during Wednesday morning rush hour.
