So far this Spring the jet stream has been stuck to the south of us, blowing in cold, dry air.
We would prefer the warm, dry air to the south of it, which is what we had in March 2012, but that's not going to happen!
Over the next few days, the jet stream will start edging northwards, nudging us closer to the northern edge of the low pressure systems as they move in along the jet stream.
These lows have strong winds wrapped round them, and will push in bands of showers and rain, but also less cold air from the SW.
Having said that, although temperatures start to recover midweek, they will still only settle around or just below average for the time of year by the end of the week.
