Today is transition day. The weather changes from dry and cool to wet and windy, as the jet stream to the south of us edges further northwards and nudges us into the path of a series of areas of low pressure.
It will still feel very chilly throughout the rest of today and tomorrow, but temperatures recover midweek. Even then however, they only aspire to average values, or just below by the end of the week.
For the rest of today, it will remain mostly dry and cloudy. The easterly wind is back and it will feel cold. There may be an odd sharp shower in places but nothing persistent, temperatures 5 to 8c, 46f.
Tonight, not as cold as of late with stronger winds and more cloud cover, odd outbreaks of rain but generally dry. Skies will be clearer further east, so a patchy frost expected, lows of 0 to 2c.
