Despite the sunshine this afternoon the next few days look unsettled and breezy with low pressure dominating. Then a change will occur for Friday and the weekend as a ridge of high pressure builds to bring us calmer conditions and a lovely sunny, spring weekend.
This afternoon will be dry and bright for all of us with some good spells of sunshine on offer. The satellite picture shows a slice of clear skies right across our region! It will be breezy everywhere though. Temperatures reaching 16c in the sunshine – that's around the seasonal average.
This evening will remain dry and clear with a strong breeze, then overnight from around midnight onwards a band of cloud and rain will sweep in from the west. The heaviest rain will be further north but for us it will be light and drizzly. Everywhere will remain fairly mild with lows of 5c.
That leads us into a cloudy and damp morning and we hold onto the breeze too. Then it's an east west split in the afternoon with the East Midlands enjoying the best of the sunshine, the West Midlands holding onto cloudy skies with occasional spots of light rain. Temperature will hit 15c.
Looking further ahead and it's an improving picture once we get to Friday but for Thursday expect heavy, thundery showers. We might even see some hail in the mix too! Then high pressure builds for Friday when it will be mostly dry (isolated showers) with sunny spells. The wind will ease too and that sets us up for a settled, dry and sunny Saturday!
