Cooler towards the weekend

LAST FEW DAYS: Warm air from a southerly quarter, temperatures above the average

After a warm start to the week, with temperatures a good 4/5 degrees above the average for late April, it will feel quite different as we head towards the weekend.

A cold front slowly edges down from the north during Wednesday night into Thursday, and behind it drags colder air Friday into the weekend.

SATURDAY: Winds turn northwesterly. Temperatures below the average

Conditions will be mixed, with sunny spells and showery outbreaks. The significant difference will be the feel of the northeast wind on Saturday and - as skies clear - a widespread frost, especially for rural areas into Sunday morning.
