The Met Office has issued a weather warning for heavy rain to fall today, 20-30mm in general. 50mm in places, that's a couple of inches. Strong winds too, so beware surface spray on roads and poor visibility.
So after a mainly clear night with a touch of ground frost, cloud will thicken up from the SW this morning and the rain will follow in, ploughing NE'wards.
It will be blustery and cold today, and then as the system pulls away SE'wards, there is the risk that the rain on the back edge will turn to sleet or snow through Herefordshire and Gloucestershire.
Over the next few days, sun and blustery showers, some heavy with the likelihood of hail and thunder. Some uncertainty over Friday, and whether a system will be pushing up from the south. We will keep you posted.
