A former stadium manager at Birmingham City Football Club has been jailed for abusing his position to carry out a £43,000 fraud.
Peter Lawrence Smith, 63, defrauded the club by creating 'fictitious' employees while working there between December 2009 and April 2012.
Today he was sentenced to 18 months in prison at Birmingham Crown Court.
Smith, a safety officer from Beverston Road, Perton, near Wolverhampton, falsely creating employment documents in respect of five individuals and facilitating payments for work which had not been done.
The court was told that payments were made to his wife and son for bogus jobs because he had financial problems.
