Since being thrashed in the first ever final 10 years ago,Warwickshire have failed to mount a serious challenge to the title since then.
The Bears have failed to advance past the quarter finals since the first tournament and this year seems unlikely to end that trend.
Warwickshire’s job will be even harder thanks to the international schedule with Jonathan Trott, Chris Woakes and Ian Bell all likely to be missing for significant stretches.
This means other players will have to step up, in particular Irishman Boyd Rankin. The 6 foot 7 fast bowler has also been called up to England’s recent ODI and T20 series against New Zealand but should be around for the majority of Warwickshire’s campaign. His ability to take key wickets and cause problems on bouncy surfaces could be crucial if the Bears hope to progress in the tournament.
