A school in Birmingham has sent letters to parents about children's safety after a teacher was charged with sexual offences.
The 27-year-old teacher, who was working at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Primary School in Billesley, has been charged with 12 counts of sexual touching of pupils under the age of 13.
He is currently suspended.
The letter says:
'The safety of our children is the highest priority of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic and the rules that we follow to protect and safeguard the school's pupils reflects this commitment.
'We can therefore reassure you that, with the support of the police, the Diocese and Birmingham City Council, the school's staff and governors have ensured that we compilied with all relevant safeguarding procedures.
'Nonetheless, we appreciate that you will be concerned about your own and other children at he school'.
The teacher will appear before Birmingham Magistrates Court on 22nd July.
