We end a month of very changeable weather on a low note with cloud and rain through today, but it's all change for the start of August tomorrow with hot and sunny weather on the menu!
Today a couple of bands of rain are moving in a north-westerly direction and merging together. All in all it's a wash out of a day with the heaviest of the rain in northern parts of the region, elsewhere damp and drizzly. Temperatures today will reach 22c, slightly fresher than of late.
This evening the rain will clear northern areas by around 9pm. We will be left with a 'kick the quilt off' sort of night with cloudy and very mild conditions as the rain is pulling in very humid air from the continent. Expect lows tonight of just 16c.
Tomorrow expect a fair bit of high cloud first thing but the sun will break through and get to work very quickly lifting temperatures to 31c. In order for it to be the hottest day of the year so far we need to beat that 31c which was recorded on 22 July! A weather fact for you....The highest temperature in the UK as a whole this year so far is 33.5c.
Looking further ahead and a Cold Front will move through on Friday bringing a few showers and cooler temperatures.
The weekend is looking showery on Saturday with sunny spells too and drier by the time we get to Sunday. A decent weekend on the cards but not quite as hot as tomorrow.
