Midlands Weather: Misty start, bright spells later

Tuesday starts slow and misty in places, but once any mist, fog and low cloud lifts, then brighter spells are more likely than today. Lincolnshire could hang on to cloud all day. Tops 21c 70f.

We also have a bit of a treat in store on Wednesday night. September’s full moon, which is known as the Harvest Moon, occurs on Wednesday.

The Moon usually appears larger than normal on this occasion, due to an optical illusion caused by the atmosphere and can appear blood red, because it is coloured by clouds and dust in the sky.

The autumnal equinox is when night and day are roughly equal length and this is widely regarded as the official start of autumn. So from now on, days start to get shorter than the nights.
