According to a new survey, Birmingham has the highest proportion of road accidents in the country with 35.3% of drivers having been involved in one. The city is closely followed by London, with 29.4%, and Manchester, with 26.5%.
The survey also found that more than half of Birmingham's motorists drive one handed while 100% claim to be safe drivers.
However, Birmingham's drivers seem to be the most honest as 63.3% of them admitted accidents were their own fault compared to just 40% of motorists in Manchester and 15.4% of those in London.
- 29.4% of Birmingham drivers also admitted to speeding whilst driving
- 5.9% said they've experienced road rage as a result of other drivers' negligence
- 47.1% admitted they are unable to travel without their mobile phone
The research, carried out by Carrot Car Insurance, also found over 30s as the most reckless drivers in the area with 50% admitting to speeding compared to 20% of 17-21 year olds.
