Four Midlands' artists up for nine Brit Awards

Four music stars from the Midlands are up for a whopping nine Brit Awards between them tonight. The award ceremony will be broadcast at 8pm on ITV.

Laura Mvula from King's Heath has been nominated for British Breakthrough Act and British Female Solo Artist.

It follows her recent success at the MOBOs where she won Best Female and Best R&B or Soul Artist.

Liam Payne from Wolverhampton is up for three awards with One Direction. The band's up for British group, British Single and British video for Best Song Ever.

Ellie from Herefordshire takes on Laura for British Female Solo Artist and One Direction for British Single and British Video. Her video for 'Burn' was filmed at RAF Wittering, just south of Stamford in Lincolnshire.

Jake is up for British Male Solo Artist. He's up against Mercury Prize winner James Blake, John Newman, Tom Odell and music legend David Bowie for the prize.

It's been a good twelve months for the chart-topping Clifton teenager, who also won Best New Act at the Q Awards in October.
