A fund raising event was held last night in memory of a six year old boy who died in hospital three years ago.
Jack Adcock, of Glen Parva in Leicestershire, was suffering from sickness and vomiting and was taken to Leicester Royal Infirmary in February 2011.
His illness developed into pneumonia and he later suffered a heart attack.
An inquest into Jack’s death in July heard the care he received on the day he died was ‘inadequate’.
It was later adjourned for legal reasons and his parents are still waiting to hear if it will resume.
Last night, family friends organised an event to raise money for two charities which helped Jack.
Their target was £4,000 but they managed to raise £9,000 for Wishes4Kids and The Leicestershire Down’s Syndrome Group.
– Nicola Adcock, Jack’s mother
"Wishes 4 Kids took Jack to EuroDisney in November 2010 before we lost Jack in February and he was in his element, he absolutely adored it but also the Leicestershire Down's Syndrome Group took him to Drayton Manor, farm parks, fish and chip nights, discos and gave him the whole experience in life that a lot of people don't get to experience"
