Five firefighters from Haden Cross community fire station have suffered minor injuries when their engine left the road in Stourbridge.

They had been responding to a road traffic incident when the fire engine was in a collision with a wall at 3.50am this morning.

The incident took place at the junction with High Street, Audnam. The vehicle was extensively damaged, but has been replaced by another in the fleet to ensure a full service for the local community.

Group Commander Neil Griffths said:

The five firefighters were taken to hospital for precautionary checks. There were some minor injuries but all later left the hospital and returned to their station, before going off duty and returning home. We will be giving the crew and their families all the support we can.

– Neil Griffths, Group Commander

The ring road was temporarily closed at the junction while the fire engine was recovered.

No other vehicles were involved.
