Nottingham landlords claim rents could rise under plans to licence properties

Landlords in Nottingham are claiming rents could go up under plans to licence thousands of properties.

The City Council wants to licence around 35,000 properties in the private rented sectors to tackle rogue landlords, raise standards and reduce anti-social behaviour.

Under the scheme, landlords would pay up to £6,000 pounds for each property they own. But many say that they will be forced to pass the cost onto their tenants.
