Plane forced to carry out mid-air U-turn due to fault

A plane carrying holidaymakers was forced to make a U-turn mid-flight.

The Jet 2 aircraft was travelling to Faro from East Midlands Airport but had to return to Donington after reporting a fault.

A spokesperson for the operator has confirmed the plane did not perform an emergency landing and that all customers were transferred to a replacement plane.

The LS687 flight left East Midlands Airport at 13:00 and was due to land into Faro at 16:00.

Due to a minor fault indication, Flight LS687 from East Midlands to Faro returned to the airport. The aircraft landed safely and all customers are transferring to a replacement aircraft.
